I finally took the plunge. I finally signed up for the Disney Half Marathon. It took me forever but I knew I could not put it off any longer. The race was at 58% full when I look yesterday. Yikes! Time to get off the fence.
Now, I am all in!
I know I have been claiming to be training for the 1/2 for a while now and it was true. However I wanted to make sure that I was not just having a moment and this was something that I could truly do. So after I ran my 5K race while on vacation, even though the conditions were brutal, not to mention the hot weather, I decided to give it a go. I was sure I could do this.
At this point I was just plain nervous, but I am in now. I do understand that a 1/2 marathon is not 5k. This would be more like 21K. I have plenty of time to train to make sure I am successful. There are only 3 goals that I WILL accomplish:
- Start
- Finish
- Not be last
I am almost certain that I can do this. The one concern that I have is the pace. I have to maintain at least a 15 minute mile. My 5K was between 13-14 min miles. I think I can do. I am not only doing more miles, but working on getting faster. I wonder do other people worry about this kind of stuff.
Wish me luck on my road to the 1/2. Here is a link I used to figure out my pacing.

PS – I hope you will continue to follow my journey. This is a big one for me.
Oh! Any advice is welcome. 🙂
Congrats on taking the plunge! Best of luck with your training!
Thank you so much. I am going to need it. 🙂
Yes! I definitely worry about that stuff ;-). And you can do it, it’s got so much to do with your mind-set. You’re going to be fine :-D.
I use a race predictor too – so handy!
I am trying not to worry about the small stuff and just enjoy the process. That is hard sometimes. 🙂 Thanks for following, I really appreciate it.
