Although people read my post all the time, I don’t really think they know about Fan Day Radio. That is my very own podcast. “What is a podcast?”, you say. It is a basically a short show made to be listen to on iPods and other devices that are broadcast over the internet using feeds. Here are some questions that I always get.
Who produces podcast? Anyone. There are a gazillion podcast out there. Some good, some bad. There are all type of topics to choose from. You can actually listen or view some podcast. They can be audio or video.
How much do they cost? Podcast are free.
How can you listen? You can download them directly from the website where they are mentioned. There are podcast directories everywhere. Of course you can download some from the iTunes and Zune directory.
Can you give me some examples:
An example of a video podcast: Photo Tips, The Suzie Orman Show (all free)
An example of an audio podcast: Running at the Center of the Universe, Fan Day Radio (Short for Fantabulous Day Radio)
What are some of your favorites?
Running at the Center of the Universe
Running with the Pack
Geeks in Running Shoes
Raw Vegan Radio
I Eat Green
Dirt Dawg Diatribe
The Moth Podcast
Vegetarian Food for Thought
And More. If you know of any podcast let me know. I would love to pickup more, believe it or not. The list goes on. I love podcast. I learn so much from them.
Why did you start podcasting? For something to do. I kind of picked it up as a hobby. I experimented with it and found that it was a lot of fun. My listeners loved it and so I continued to produce episodes.
How long does it take to produce? Each episode takes a couple of hours. I try to have at least an outline of what I am going to talk about. I don’t talk about anything outside of my world. Then I record, edit, edit, edit. I add music and it is ready to post to my online server. Then you can listen any time you like.
How can I listen to Fan Day Radio? If you are able to stream from your computer, you can listen to current and past episodes by going to the Fan Day Radio tab and click on the episode you would like to listen too. You can also listen by clicking on the RSS symbol at the top right hand corner of the page and click on the episode you would like to listen to.
How do I subscribe, what does that mean? You can subscribe by going to the feed and subscribing. New episodes will flow automatically to your feeds for listening as they become available. Otherwise you can subscribe to the blog and you will see a post once a new episode becomes available. Or go to the basement (Archives) to listen.
How often are new episodes available? Right now about once a month. I don’t want to produce a podcast just for the sake of making a recording. I believe there should be some meaningful content. Since my experiences here are so limited because of the location where I am, I don’t want to bore anyone to death.
If anyone has any other questions about Podcast, let me know. I would be happy to help if you think that is something you would like to do. It is sooooo easy.
